A Shamaa candle mid-pour in the Doha studio
How it's made

Every jar poured by hand in a small Doha studio.

We melt soy wax in small batches, mix each fragrance blend by weight, and pour into reusable glass at just below 60°C — slow enough that the scent settles evenly through the whole candle, not just the top inch.

Wax100% soy, no paraffin
WickCotton, lead-free
Burn timeApprox. 45 hours
VesselReusable smoked glass

Our story

Named for the candle that lit every Ramadan evening.

Shamaa — Arabic for "candle" — began in a Msheireb apartment kitchen in 2019, testing oud and bakhoor blends against the scents we grew up around. Nine scents later, we still pour every jar within a few kilometres of where it ships from, and we still test each new batch on our own dinner table before it goes on sale.

How we got here

2019

Started in a Msheireb apartment kitchen, testing bakhoor and oud blends on family and neighbours.

2021

First stockist: a concept store in Katara Cultural Village carried our first three scents.

2023

Opened our own small pouring studio in Old Salata, and moved off the kitchen stove for good.

2026

Nine scents in rotation, poured weekly, shipped to every corner of Qatar.
