Getting the most from your candle
Soy wax has a memory — how it burns the first time shapes how it burns for the rest of the jar. Six habits keep every Shamaa candle burning clean and even to the last centimetre.
First burn. Let the wax pool reach the edge of the jar — usually 2–3 hours — so it doesn't tunnel down the middle for the rest of its life.
Trim the wick. Cut it to 6mm before every burn. A long wick means a tall flame, soot on the glass, and a scent that burns off too fast.
Burn in sessions. 3–4 hours at a time is the sweet spot. Never leave a lit candle unattended, even for a moment.
Keep it clear. Away from drafts, curtains, shelves above it, and out of reach of children and pets.
Know when to stop. Extinguish once about 1cm of wax remains at the base — burning a jar dry can crack the glass or scorch the vessel.
Reuse the jar. Wash with warm soapy water once empty. Every Shamaa vessel is reusable smoked glass — we see them back as pen pots and plant cuttings more often than not.
